Red Squirrel becomes an Accredited LEGI Supplier
21st August 2007
Yorkshire design and communications company Red Squirrel Media has been enlisted to help market fledgling Bradford enterprises and get them off the ground.
The dynamic young firm has been named an accredited supplier of graphic and website design by Bradford Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI).
The move presents new opportunities for the Otley-based company to get involved in Bradford’s economic regeneration, using its expertise in developing company branding, promotional materials and e-commerce websites to support the city‘s up-and-coming entrepreneurs.
In addition to being a member of Bradford Chamber, Red Squirrel Media has built a strong track record working with Bradford Metropolitan District Council and was recently chosen to design and produce posters for billboards, buses and shelters as part of the council’s groundbreaking climate change awareness campaign.
Business development manager Suzanne Hudson said: “We are delighted to have won this accreditation through a stringent tendering process and have already undertaken a number of projects for start-up companies, enabling us to expand our own portfolio into new areas of business.
It’s great to be able to help other local companies and be part of Bradford’s exciting regeneration campaign. While the projects may initially be relatively small, hopefully the companies involved will go on to be successful and choose to stay with us so that we can all expand together.
In February 2006, Bradford Council won £21.4m of Government funding under the LEGI neighbourhood renewal programme to help it stimulate entrepreneurial activity, support growth and reduce the failure rate of locally-owned businesses.
Since then the council’s ‘Be Enterprising’ team and Jobcentre Plus have offered hundreds of unemployed people a fresh start through self-employment, allowing them to set-up and run a small business for a trial period of up to six months while continuing to receive benefits.
It’s list of accredited suppliers has been drawn up to help people select professional services which are both affordable and of good quality. Among the first LEGI programme companies to use Red Squirrel Media was Ilkley based gardening and landscaping company Hedge-Hogs.
Suzanne said: The company was keen to get a website up and running as quickly as possible and we were able to provide them with a very stylish web presence within a matter of days at www.hedgehogsoutdoor.co.uk.

The LEGI approval is the second accreditation to be won by Red Squirrel Media. In March the company achieved accredited industry supplier status with the Regional Food Group Yorkshire and Humber (RFGYH).
