As Night News Editor he ran overnight news operations and decided what led the website the following morning.

He has commissioned freelancers across the UK and abroad on the Daily Mail’s feature desk and reported exclusives on camera, including an investigation into the cut-price cosmetic surgery industry in Turkey.

He founded Red Squirrel Media on a simple observation: most organisations approach journalists without knowing what journalists actually want.

Having spent his career on the receiving end of those approaches, and deciding which ones became stories, he built a network of people who understand the difference.

NORTHERN DIRECTOR

John Siddle is a highly experienced freelance journalist with a career spanning frontline reporting, senior editorial roles and national newspaper journalism.

He has worked on major stories and campaigns, and received industry recognition for his journalism.

John has now worked independently for approaching a decade, supplying national newspapers and their websites with accurate, compelling copy.

A journalist of more than 40 years' standing, Nic has worked across national media and broadcasting, including the BBC. His work spans news, features and interviews, with particular strength in politics, crime and health reporting, and he moves comfortably between journalism and communications work.

Based in Cheltenham and covering the Cotswolds and the wider UK, he brings both national newsroom experience and genuine regional knowledge.

WALES DIRECTOR

Tom is a former Welsh Journalist of the Year and an award-winning feature writer. He began as a crime reporter before moving to the BBC as a producer, then founded his own news agency in Cardiff.

In 2008 he stepped away from journalism to launch an award-winning street food company and later opened a restaurant. The pull of breaking news brought him back, and for the last decade he has covered the biggest stories in Wales and the West Country for the Daily Mail and other publications.

WEST COUNTRY

Nick has spent 48 years in journalism, most of them running West Coast News, the Devon agency he and Karen Farrington have operated for 33 years. He has reported for every national newspaper, and now works mainly for the Mail on Sunday and MailOnline.

He covers breaking news, features and investigations, with particular strength in politics, crime, health and business. A former lobby correspondent, he has also written two Match of the Day books for BBC Books, marking the programme's 50th and 60th anniversaries, and ghostwritten two cricket titles.

GHOSTWRITER AND EDITOR

Karen is a non-fiction author, ghostwriter and publishing editor with 47 years' experience as a staff and freelance journalist. She and Nick Constable have run West Coast News in Devon for 33 years.

She has written and edited for Bloomsbury, Ebury, BBC Books, Michael Joseph, Head of Zeus, the Press Association and the Sun. Her own history books include The Great Italian Break Out. She now works mainly on ghostwriting, book editing and long-form non-fiction, with particular strength in history and lifestyle.

Based in Barnstaple, covering the West Country and available across the UK.

SCOTLAND

Beverley is a journalist, broadcaster and vlogger with more than 30 years' experience, having written for the Daily Record, the Sunday Mail, the Sun and the Daily Mail.

Her work spans showbusiness, lifestyle, news and features, alongside PR and video. She brings the research, contacts and interviewing skills of a long newspaper career, and is an experienced public speaker.

NORTH EAST

Mark has spent 41 years in journalism, including more than 18 as a senior reporter at the Yorkshire Post, and chief reporter roles at the Wolverhampton Express and Star and Guzelian News Agency. He began his career at the Peterborough Evening Telegraph in 1988.

Freelance since 2012, he supplies national newspapers, radio and television, and is available at short notice for breaking news across the region.

Based between Scarborough and Leeds, covering North and West Yorkshire and available across the UK.

UK WIDE

Glenn has more than 20 years' experience in commercial, advertising and celebrity photography, working with clients including Sony Music, Simon Cowell and Kelly Hoppen MBE. He began his career in 1990 with automotive photographer Taly Noy at Eastside Studios, spending six years shooting for Ford, BMW and Peugeot.

With the arrival of digital he moved into celebrity, PR and studio work. He is equally confident in the studio or on location, shooting subjects ranging from an Aston Martin to luxury eyewear, and works closely with two of London's leading PR agencies and a number of high-end publications. He shoots on Nikon and Leica, and offers a full in-house retouching service.

John has been working as a professional photographer since 1972, covering assignments in his home county of Essex, across the United Kingdom and in 43 countries.

Working as a team with his wife and reporter and PR whiz Julia, the couple’s portfolios span news, features, advertising and PR, industrial and property, cars, fashion, sport and aerial work, alongside celebrities, politicians and the Royal Family.

Steve is a PR and earned media specialist with more than a decade of experience securing national coverage for clients including Specsavers, Thompsons Solicitors and the UK Government.

His work has landed on BBC Newsnight, in a Guardian front-page exclusive and in a Sunday Times investigation into rogue surgeon Ian Paterson. For Specsavers he led campaigns across ITV News, WalesOnline and regional titles, securing more than 250 pieces of coverage and two regional television features. He works on the basis that placement follows relationships, timing and a case study a journalist can actually use.

PR AND MEDIA RELATIONS

Shona spent 15 years in journalism at the Press and Journal in Aberdeen, seven of them as news editor and then live news editor, covering breaking news, court reporting, politics, features and human interest.

She now works freelance across communications, journalism, copywriting and editing, and consults for charities. Two years in charity communications and fundraising, plus seven as voluntary chair of a local health charity, give her a working knowledge of the third sector from both sides. Her comms work spans press releases, media handling, copywriting and editorial planning.
